    Unit 11 Could you please tell me where the restrooms are?

    第一課時(shí)

    Section A

    教學(xué)目標(biāo):

    1. 學(xué)會(huì)問路以及達(dá)到購(gòu)物或辦事的目的。

    2. 學(xué)會(huì)為他人指明方位以及達(dá)到幫助他人的目的。

    Step 1 Warming-up

    Give them some information about several things, and ask them to guess them out.

    Shampoo(use it to wash your hair), dictionary(use it to look up some new words), stamps(use it to send letter)

    Then ask students to think about phrases in 1a.

    Step 2 Presentation

    Ask students to read the phrases in 1a for several times. And then ask: Where can you do these things?

    Have a competition of these phrases between boys and girls.

    Ask students pretend they are new to this city, say: You need to ask other people where the library is . How can you ask where the library is?

    S: Where is the library?

    T: This is one way to ask. But I think you can ask more politely. You can say: “Could you tell me where the library is? ” or “Could you tell me how to get to the library? ”

    Then ask them to read it together.

    T: If you want to go to the library, what can you say?

    S: Could you tell me where the library is?

    Could you tell me how to get to the library?

    Step 3 Listening and Practice.

    Play the tape, ask students to complete the conversations. Check their answers, then ask them to read following the tape.

    Ask several groups to practice the similar dialogue, then present to the other students.

    Step 4 Listening and Practice.

    2a Make sure they know every sentence’s meaning. Tell them they will hear some of the directions below, and ask them to number the directions in the order that they hear them.

    2b Ask students to read the listening text following the tape sentence by sentence, draw the line how the boy walks to the drugstore.

    Step 5 Grammar Focus

    Ask students to read the sentences together, make sure they know every sentence’s meaning, and they are Object Clause.

    Homework:

    Write the sentences and recite them.

    Have a dictation of the sentences in Grammar Focus.

    Step 2 Warming-up

    T: Do you like going to the mall?

    S: Yes. / No.

    T: Why do you like? / Why don’t you like?

    Step 3 Reading and Practice.

    Write advantages and disadvantages on the blackboard, let students use their own words to explain two words, and give some examples.

    Ask students to read the interview on their own and writ the disadvantages and advantages according to the dialogue.

    Ask several students to explain the dialogue, and then practice the dialogue with other people.

    Step 4 Consolidation and Extension

    Ask students to practice the dialogue in groups. Discuss the question: Where do you usually hang out with friends? What are the advantages? What are the disadvantages?

    Ask them to make up the similar dialogue to 3b. Find out the funniest conclusion.

    Homework: Recite 3a.

    Step 1 Warming-up

    Play a game, to say a description word one by one. If somebody can’t say, ask him/her to play a program.

    Step 2 Presentation

    Make sure they know the phrases in the chart. And ask what they can do in these places?

    Step 3 Teaching and Practice

    Go through the instructions with the class. Ask several students if there are any of these words that students don’t understand. If so, helps students to explain the meaning of the word.

    Ask students to write words from the box in the blanks on their own. Help students if needed.

    Step 4 Listening

    T: The scene shows a family on vacation. They are asking the man for information about various things to do in Sunville.

    2a Write what place they ask about in each conversation.

    2b Write where the man says the tourist should go. Read the conversation following the tape.

    Step 1 Warming-up

    T: Some students have visited some interesting places for vacation, can you tell us some?

    T: I think you must have a good time there. When we take a vacation we should do some good and interesting, such as visit the museum, visit the beach and so on. We can not only have fun but also increase our knowledge.

    Step 2 Reading

    Play the tape, and the students read the passage by themselves and get some information about the passage, then fill in the blank. Check the answers. Ask two students to read the passage, and compare who read better, the other students try to find out the wrong pronunciation.

    Comprehend the whole passage, at last ask them to read the passage together.
